Account Manager, Investor Engagement - CDP North America

CDP is a leading international charity founded 16 years ago to address the dangerous threat of climate change. It has since grown to become the world's foremost system for companies and cities to report on carbon emissions, water stewardship and deforestation. We operate key hubs in London, New York and Berlin with other representation in the rest of Europe, Brazil, Australia, Japan, India and China.

CDP North America (CDP NA) is an independent 501(c)3 charity, based in New York, which works in close association with other members of the CDP operation throughout the world. Our office is growing and we are seeking a highly motivated individual with a financial background to assist in managing CDP NA’s relationships with investors and signatory entities. The position is based in CDP NA’s New York office.  CDP administers an annual disclosure process on behalf institutional investors with combined assets in excess of $92 trillion. Disclosing companies provide quantitative and qualitative information about their greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency programs, water management, exposure to deforestation and strategic business approach to environmental risk. The Account Manager will report to CDP NA’s Head of Investor Initiatives and will work integrally with the global Investor Initiatives team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Building relationships with institutional investors and recruiting them as signatories and members;
  • Understanding current areas of interest for investors and feeding those back to the CDP research team;
  • Generating revenue through sales of CDP memberships, special project sponsorships and new products and services;
  • Ensuring investors are aware of our data and research and assisting them to use it in their investment process where possible;
  • Making presentations at relevant financial and other conferences, webinars, etc;
  • Helping convene and organize investor roundtables and other informational events; and
  • Account managing investor signatories and members.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in the financial markets, preferably in a sales role;
  • A passion for integrating ESG issues into the mainstream investment process;
  • Experience liaising with contacts in senior positions at pension funds, insurance companies and investment managers;
  • A desire to take ownership and responsibility for their work;
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills and a desire to seek out speaking and networking opportunities;
  • The ability to deliver excellent results under pressure and take pride in working to a high standard;
  • A flexible but diligent working style, with proven record of working within a team; and
  • Candidates with Spanish language skills preferable.

The successful candidate will work 5 days per week and must be able to work legally in the US and be able to travel nationally and internationally as required.

Support Officer, Disclosure - CDP London

CDP is recruiting for individuals with a background in delivering great customer service and data management to work in our Disclosure Team. This is an opportunity to contribute significantly to the vital work of CDP in encouraging corporate reporting on sustainable resource use. It would be ideal for someone looking to move into a new career, coming back to the workforce or a recent graduate. Your ability to work with the rest of the team and provide a high level of friendly support is more important than educational background, but you must have a demonstrated desire to work for an environmental organisation.

Based at CDP’s London office, the role will entail critical activities to support companies who disclose their sustainability data through CDP, responding to high volumes of incoming enquiries for sustained periods of time while maintaining data quality in our database. Attention to detail, a proactive approach and the highest level of organisation are fundamental to this role. No technical knowledge of the subject matter is required, but an interest in environmental issues is vital.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responding to incoming enquiries from companies related to the CDP questionnaires and online systems
  • Assisting with other forms of support for disclosing companies e.g. workshops and webinars
  • Database management
  • Assisting in testing CDP’s IT systems
  • Administrative support for event organisation and production
  • Working with CDP’s global offices to support the publication of annual reports

The successful candidate will have:

Interim Program Director - CDP London

CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast paced, varied and autonomous environment. Your ability to provide leadership to some of our high performing and strategically critical programs will be critical in supporting these programs to deliver on their ambitious goals. You will have oversight of the implementation of the Program Operational Plan, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement and have the autonomy to delivery efficient and effective systems that increase the productivity of the organisation. You will act independently and take timely decisions to ensure operational delivery for CDP, working closely with most of CDP’s senior managers.  This is an excellent opportunity to enhance and develop the strategic management skills and be part of delivering on strategically critical projects.

The interim Program Director will report to CDP’s Co-Chief Operating Officer and will provide line management to the Heads of Disclosure, Investor Initiatives, Supply Chain, Cities, Water and Forests.

This is a full time, fixed term contract of 12-14 months.

Salary and benefits: circa £50,000 - £60,000 per annum dependent on experience, bonus scheme, non-contributory pension, 24 days’ holiday.

Internship Opportunity – CDP’s supply chain program

CDP is seeking an intern to support CDP’s supply chain program from our office in central London. The successful candidate will work as part of this dynamic and enthusiastic team with colleagues in London, New York, Berlin, Beijing, Tokyo and São Paulo. CDP’s supply chain program catalyzes disclosure and action on climate change amongst both purchasing companies and their suppliers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and creating reports using data disclosed through CDP.
  • Conducting extensive data quality checks on CDP data and reports.
  • Managing data and information in the Microsoft Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Assisting team members with research or administrative tasks, as they arise.

Account Manager, Supply Chain - CDP North America

CDP is seeking a dedicated individual with skill-sets in supply chain strategy, sales and leadership to join CDP's North America Supply Chain team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Expanding membership of CDP's supply chain program by establishing, maintaining and leveraging relationships with relevant sustainability and procurement managers in major corporations and other purchasing entities.
  • Providing effective relationship management to CDP supply chain member companies by developing and executing strategic plans to integrate CDP requests and environmental criteria into key purchasing decisions;
  • Fulfilling the membership objectives set by CDP's supply chain program including hosting meetings, workshops, trainings and external communications while executing and expanding supplier disclosure and incorporating CDP scores and data into member company procurement decisions;

Project Officer (m/f) - CDP Europe

CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) is an independent not-for-profit organization, with the mission to combat climate change. According to Harvard Business Review, CDP is maybe “the most important environmental NGO you’ve never heard of”. The exchange of information with institutional investors and big corporations on environmental issues, the support of companies in their reporting of environmental information to CDP, the evaluation of the data being reported in terms of its transparency and performance, as well as the publication of scoring results at CDP events are key components of CDP.

In your role as Project Officer (m/f), you will familiarize yourself with our scoring methodology and the aforementioned key components in order to help bring vital environmental parameters into the heart of large investment and purchasing decisions. Further, you will support the CDP Europe Team in the creative direction of our flagship events and the cooperation with partner organizations and governments. Project Manager: Sustainable Finance - CDP Beijing

CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its investor program. The successful candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience at least in a project management experience with a business or financial background/qualification and have passion for environmental issues.

CDP runs an annual disclosure process on behalf of 827 institutional investors with combined assets in excess of $95 trillion. Disclosing companies provide quantitative and qualitative information about their greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency programs, water management, exposure to deforestation and strategic business approach to environmental risk.

Project management and company engagement skills are fundamental to this role, as well as research and the ability to manage relationships and conduct conversations with multi-stakeholders. The candidate will have opportunity to engage with public listed companies,key investors as well other key stakeholders in sustainable finance area though different initiatives and projects. The projects mainly aim to improve public listed companies’ understanding and knowledge of environmental and climate’s risks and inform investor/policy makers engagement with companies on climate-related issues. The candidate will also have an opportunity to contribute significantly to the CDP investor program globally.

  • Good Knowledge and experience of finance/sustainability sector as well understanding of related area knowledge such as ESG, CSR, responsible investment, etc.

Senior Project/Project Officer - CDP China (located in Beijing )

CDP is seeking a highly-motivated, meticulous individual with excellent relationship-building, communication and project management skills to lead deforestation engagement with private sector from China. This person will support the CDP supply chain account manager in developing the China supply chain program to include deforestation. Primarily this will be by helping CDP supply chain members and reporting suppliers adopt and implement deforestation-free policies and practices in the supply chains of key agricultural commodities driving unsustainable deforestation and forest degradation in China.

Research and project management skills are  fundamental to this role, as well as the ability to manage relationships and conduct conversations with multi-stakeholders. The candidate will also have an opportunity to contribute significantly to the future development of the CDP supply chain strategy for China.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop annual work plan in collaboration with the project lead for China, bringing in local and regional stakeholders where appropriate 
  • Engage with and support China suppliers to increase the levels of supply chain disclosure on deforestation.
  • Coordinate work with the project manager in London and provide update reports
  • Help to develop educational and training materials for company procurement teams
  • Develop and host multi stakeholder dialogue events, workshops and conferences

CDP Europe, the world’s leading climate change charity, offers an internship on a voluntary basis for a period of 3 months to support our Southern Europe activities.

About the role: we are looking for a highly motivated individual, fluent in Spanish and English, with a strong background on sustainability and/or climate change; excellent communication skills and proven experience in organizing high-level events. This role is suitable for someone with knowledge or interest in climate change and business, and it will provide an opportunity to learn about corporate climate change reporting and to experience working in an innovative business-focused NGO.

  • Duration: 3 months (mandatory internships: 6 months)
  • Starting date: as soon as possible

CDP Europe is registered in Berlin. The organisation with charitable status works in close association with other members of the CDP group throughout the world and is responsible for or all CDP operations on mainland Europe. We are currently a team of 25 colleagues.

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct support of the France & Benelux project officer and the European water account manager
  • Support the team on various projects including communication with companies
  • Participate in organization of CDP Events, such as“CDP spring workshops” or “CDP report launches”
  • Data maintenance
  • Invitation management

The successful candidate will have:

  • Enrolled student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (esp. Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Team player
  • Highly interested in sustainability, especially climate change, water and forests issues
  • work independently and precisely under pressure, be proactive and set priorities
  • demonstrate a high level of dedication, flexibility and resilience
  • work experience is desirable
  • Language Skills
  • Fluent French and English
  • Knowledge of Dutch would be an asset
