Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC)

The Investor Group on Climate Change Australia/New Zealand (IGCC) represents investors, with total funds under management of over $225 billion, and others in the investment community interested in the impact of climate change on investments.

The IGCC aims to ensure that the risks and opportunities associated with climate change are incorporated into investment decisions for the ultimate benefit of individual investors through: - Raising awareness of the potential impacts, both positive and negative, resulting from climate change to the investment industry, corporate, government and community sectors; - Encouraging best practices approaches to facilitate the inclusion of the impacts of climate change into investment analysis by the investment industry; and - Providing information to assist the investment industry to understand and incorporate climate change into the investment decision.

Access to information from companies on their climate change risks and opportunities is vital to ensure the business risks and opportunities associated with climate change are incorporated into investment decisions. To facilitate access to such information from entities, the IGCC has partnered with the CDP to expand the information request to the top 100 Australian companies and the top 50 New Zealand companies.

It is through the CDP that investors can access information on how companies are managing and responding to climate change issues. As more companies provide publicly available information on climate change and as consistency and comparability of that information increases, investors will be even better placed.
